Ingenuity Prep is a Title I School

What is Title I?

Title I of the Elementary & Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as passed in 2015 by the US Department of Education, and amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), is used to provide funding for schools to ensure students, regardless of family income, can “have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.”

Ingenuity Prep receives Schoolwide Assistance because 40% or more of our students receive free and reduced lunch.

How does Ingenuity Prep use Title I funds?

Ingenuity Prep uses Title I funding to improve academic achievement, promote family and community engagement, and provide special education support to learners and instructors.

Academic Achievement

Academic Achievement

We achieve monumental growth and proficiency — both academically and interpersonally — for all students every day and in every classroom through a robust curriculum with complex, worthy tasks that are well-planned, responsive to data, and executed at a high level to prepare students to matriculate to high schools with historical track records serving students like ours. To do this we will maintain our investments in instructional leadership including six vice principals supporting instruction, culture, and enrichment.

Special Education

Special Education

Ingenuity Prep recognizes the importance of continuously investing in special education instruction. Ingenuity Prep uses Title I funds to maintain three Vice Principals of Special Education. Each VP works directly with instructional staff to help students receiving special education services reach and exceed their goals.

Family and Community Engagement

Family and Community Engagement

We build trusting, meaningful relationships between our teachers, staff, and families to become advocates and academic champions for our student(s) and school community. We ensure our families can support their child’s growth and academic excellence by elevating and cultivating skills, knowledge, and mindsets and providing tools and resources. Ingenuity Prep’s Family and Community Engagement Director works with families to boost school-home connections while also securing strategic partnerships that bring additional resources to support our students.

What are Parents’ Title I Rights?

Under ESSA, schools receiving Title I funds must inform parents of their right to request teacher qualifications. If you would like to know more about your student’s teacher’s qualifications, please contact LaShawndra Thornton, Ingenuity Prep’s Talent & Human Resources Manager.
