The Ingenuity Prep Model
With
more learning time and
increased efficiency in our model, Ingenuity Prep will 1) ensure a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in the traditional core contents and 2) cultivate a broader set of 21st century skills that will truly prepare our students to succeed in college and become impactful civic leaders.
Ingenuity Prep will offer an
extended-day and
extended year schedule, providing increased opportunities to deliver rigorous instruction, enrichment, and remediation for a wide-range of content.
O

ur homegrown,
innovative civic leadership program is built around four pillars: social-emotional learning, collaborative problem-solving, social studies, and service learning. Students in PreK will have this content integrated across the curriculum while students in Kindergarten will take a special civic leadership class – with nearly three hours a week of instructional time explicitly devoted to this content.

Ingenuity Prep will implement a dynamic staffing model with
looping teams of content-specialized teachers. These teams will loop with cohorts of students within grade-level bands (PS-PK, K-2, 3-5, and 6-8). In providing for continuity in relationships and knowledge of students’ individual strengths and areas of development, this looping model will provide for greater efficiencies in supporting students’ development. And, with most teachers serving as content-specialists, we’ll increase the capacity of our teachers to become true subject matter experts.

With resident, associate, lead, and master teacher positions, Ingenuity Prep’s
teaching career ladder ensures that as our teachers grow so do their opportunities to leverage their leadership and increase their impact – all while remaining in the classroom.

Utilizing a
blended learning model, the school will creatively organize classroom instruction. In the literacy and math classrooms, teachers will leverage high-quality online learning programs to provide adaptive delivery of instruction targeted at students’ individual needs and respective zones of proximal development. Through a rotational model, with multiple teachers in each classroom, over 75% of students’ learning at Ingenuity Prep will occur in small groups of 6-8 students.
