We’re transitioning to a new family communication tool! This year, all Ingenuity Prep communications will come through DeansList.
To ensure you receive important updates this school year, please take the following steps:
First, search your email for “DeansList” and accept the invitation. Register your account using the information from the email invitation.
If you did not receive an invitation by email, please reach out to your student’s teacher for your validation code and go to https://deanslist.me.
More detailed instructions on how to register can be found here.
DeansList is also available as an app — download DeansList for Families on your smartphone!
Ingenuity Prep is committed to open enrollment for all students who are residents of D.C. and to making offers to waitlisted students in a timely fashion. As such, students who are no-shows at the beginning of the school year may forfeit their enrollment at Ingenuity Prep.
A no-show is a student who misses three or more of the first 5 days of school or 5 or more of the first 10 days of school without a parent or medical note. If your student will not be able to start school on time or will miss several days in the first two weeks, please be sure to communicate the reason for the absence to the Front Desk team as soon as possible.
Ingenuity Prep is launching a new Attendance and Engagement Policy! Students will be marked Engaged or Not Engaged for every class block — so teachers and parents can identify trends when a student is missing a particular block of the day, like Math.
See the SY20-21 Family Handbook for the full Attendance & Engagement Policy.
Since deciding to start the school year virtually, Ingenuity Prep has been looking for ways to support families and enrich student’s virtual learning experiences. After much consideration, we have determined that we will not be able to provide any in-person supervised virtual learning at school, but want to provide a way for families to support each other during this time.
Please complete this survey if you are interested in forming a “pod” with one or more Ingenuity Prep families. A “pod” is a small group of families that come together to do virtual learning and or support each other with childcare while school remains virtual.
Families who complete this survey will get access to the information of others who complete the survey and will be invited to join a private Facebook group where they can communicate with other families who have expressed interest in forming a “pod”. If you are interested, please complete the survey as soon as possible so that we can maximize the number of connections for potential “pods”. The survey will close on September 4th.
Please note that Ingenuity Prep is only connecting interested families to each other, we will not be responsible for monitoring any “pods” that form out of those connections. We encourage interested families to do their own due diligence before deciding to form a “pod” with one another.
We will be dividing Pre-K students into two groups for live instruction to allow for smaller numbers of students to work with each teacher.
If you haven’t already, please share your preference here for which group works best for your schedule. We will do our best to accommodate preferences.
Don’t Forget: Parent/Family Board Members Applications are due TOMORROW!
If you weren’t able to attend Monday’s informational session, take a look at the presentation here! We also recorded the session for you to listen to here. If you take a listen, you’ll also get a chance to learn more about a brand new parent to IP, Ms. Barlow! Welcome again, Ms. Barlow.
The application is here but please let LaShawndra (firstname.lastname@example.org // 313-204-7176) know if you have any questions!
Starting August 31st, Ingenuity Prep will provide meals for students on a daily basis from 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM while school remains virtual. Students or their family members can pick-up student meals. Multiple days of meals can be picked up at one time. Meal pick-up will be located in the same place where you picked up your student’s Chromebook.
